Calphalon Cookware Reviews – Too Expensive or Not?
Calphalon cookware is today made by the Calphalon Corporation who have been around since 1963 (albeit under different names). They make a wide range of different pieces for your kitchen, everything from pots and pans to toasters and champagne ice buckets, but one thing they all have in common is that reserved bare metal or dark grey finish which gives them all a professional and timeless style.
This cookware is not as popular as other ranges from brands like Cuisinart, Rachael Ray, Circulon etc, but there are still a lot of people out there who value the aesthetics and quality of these sets. Something that is probably holding a lot of people back is the price, you can expect to pay around two hundred dollars for a 10 piece stainless steel set, or around one hundred and eighty five for a 10 piece hard anodized aluminum set. Compare that to a hundred and twenty for a 10 piece stainless steel set from Cuisinart or one hundred and seventy for a that lovely 10 piece set of hard anodized aluminum pans from Rachael Ray and you can start to see the problem.
However most of the Calphalon cookware reviews we have seen online are positive and say that paying that little bit extra is well worth it. The stainless steel sets seem to get the best feedback, the non stick sets seem to have a few people complaining about the non stick coating bubbling or being fragile. That seems to be a recurring problem across all the non stick cookware sets we have looked at unfortunately, from all different companies, it seems getting the non stick coating to last well is a tricky task.
Once thing I do notice as a common theme though is that the edge of the coating can get damaged where it reaches the lip of the pan, so if any cookware companies are reading this then maybe making a metal cap which goes over the edge would help or something similar? Unfortunately if you buy non stick cookware then you have to be prepared for the coating to get damaged over time even if you are careful to look after them, that is why I like to have both stainless steel and non stick pans and I can alternate between the two depending on what I am cooking, so I don’t use the non stick items when I don’t have to.
